Tree grates are often specified unfinished because the tree grates will naturally rust to a dark brown patina over time. (Refer to this page on our web site for more information: http://www.ironsmith.cc/patina.htm) Occasionally we have customers that want to quickly eliminate the rusted appearance of their natural cast iron grates. To do this in an efficient and cost effective manner, Ironsmith recommends a RUST CONVERSION product.that will instantly turn rust a rich dark brown .Rust Conversion products convert the rust to a polymer so there is no need to remove the rust to obtain a nice finish instantly. In fact, the more rust present the better the end result. Most Conversion Products are water based and non toxic so it is safe and easy to use on site. It is important to mask off any surrounding areas because They may stain concrete black. |
